Welcome to the Alliance for Child-Centred Care!

The Alliance is a broad coalition of organisations who work with children and young people who either have care experience or have been affected by the care system, that come together to promote improvements in the care system in England.

Our objective is to promote the embedding of child-centred care into the policy and practice of statutory, public and private bodies who either provide services or are responsible for the development and implementation of policy for children and young people looked after by the state.

Our immediate priorities are:

  • Putting the needs of the child first and at the centre of practice
  • Recognising and valuing children's diversity and individuality
  • Listening to and communicating effectively with children
  • Recognising and valuing the relationship that matter to the child
  • Recognising and upholding children's rights
  • Facilitating children's individual and collective involvement in decisions
  • Focussing on the child over organisational considerations
